Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 19th that it is operating the ‘Cold Wave Response Visiting Health Care Project’ to protect the health of vulnerable groups amid the coldest weather this winter, including the issuance of cold wave warnings.
This project was established to prevent health damage and support a safe winter for elderly people living alone and economically vulnerable seniors who are sensitive to cold waves.
Visiting nurses provide services such as △guidance on prevention rules for cold-related diseases △education on managing chronic diseases in winter △support for health care supplies to prepare for cold waves through direct visits or phone contacts.
Jung Tae-sik, Director of Namyangju Public Health Center, said, “Cold waves can pose a great threat to the elderly with reduced physical functions or economically vulnerable groups who find it difficult to prepare. We ask all citizens to keep warm when going out and to familiarize themselves with methods to manage chronic diseases in winter to have a healthy winter.”
Namyangju City protects the health of vulnerable citizens by providing seasonal customized health care services during winter cold waves and summer heat waves, and plans to continue prioritizing citizens’ health and safety by offering ongoing health management services.
