This self-audit focused on improving the operational efficiency and transparency of public sewage treatment facilities and auxiliary facilities, conducting inspections mainly in the areas of ▲water quality and process management ▲proper operation and management of facilities ▲employee attendance and other administrative fields.

Guri City identified a total of nine deficiencies, including inadequate management of discharged water quality and facility safety, and exceeding the recruitment period for new personnel, resulting in a reduction of 2,582,000 KRW from the management agency fees. The city plans to receive and verify reports on corrective actions taken for the pointed-out issues in the future.

Additionally, eight operational best practices were confirmed, including improvements to the Umina sewage treatment facility, process operation enhancements, and improvements in the communication method of the aerator in the biological reactor. The city intends to continuously monitor the progress of these best practices on a regular basis and review plans for their expanded implementation.

Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri City stated, “Recently, we have been recognized both internally and externally for the excellence of Guri City’s public sewage treatment facility operations, having been selected as an outstanding institution in the public sewage operation management evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Environment and the performance evaluation hosted by the Hangang River Basin Environmental Office. We will continue to cooperate with the management agency to strengthen the expertise in sewage treatment facility operations and do our best to ensure transparent and efficient operation of public sewage treatment facilities.”

Meanwhile, the operation and management of Guri City’s public sewage treatment facilities and auxiliary facilities are scheduled to be entrusted to four companies, including Ecobit Water Co., Ltd., until March 2027.
