Apartment Community Center Transformed into Art Appreciation Space
As the year-end and New Year approach, various cultural events are taking place throughout the region, and a small, unique exhibition where families and residents can participate together without having to travel far is drawing attention.
The first solo exhibition by Western-style painter Kim Young-soon (72), themed "The Space Where the Seasons Stay," has been held since the 10th at the Donghwa I Wish Community Center in Suseong Alphacity, Suseong-gu, Daegu, receiving enthusiastic responses from the residents.

Recently, the combination of construction companies' 'Art Gallery' services and residents' interest in artworks has led to an increase in apartments directly organizing exhibitions.
This exhibition utilized the urban apartment community facility as an art space, enhancing residents' opportunities to enjoy culture and breaking the conventional exhibition framework to lower the threshold for cultural arts, according to the residents.
Kim, who started painting relatively late in life, fulfilled her dream of holding a solo exhibition while striving for better works. The exhibition, held with the cooperation of her loving family, colleagues, and residents, became the most beautiful first solo exhibition in the world.
This exhibition, the artist's first solo show gathering her work journey in one place, features about 30 diverse pieces ranging from large 100-ho (size) works to small 10-ho works. The main exhibited pieces include interesting works such as △ Splendid Day △ Rest △ Geumgang Pine △ Distant Memory.
In particular, she focused on expressing inner emotions and stories through landscapes. She delicately captured nature, which welcomes with a thousand faces in drawing and painting, and with her unique touch, she captured the colorful moments of life.
Kim Young-soon said, “This exhibition was held to create a healthy living culture through residents' participation in cultural arts,” adding, “I expect that this exhibition will lead to the efficient use of apartment cultural spaces, resolve the lack of relationships among residents, share hobbies together, and naturally form relationships.”
Since beginning her full-fledged artist activities, Kim has actively participated in various group exhibitions and continued her painting work. This exhibition, showcasing about 30 pieces, will continue until the 26th.
