On the 19th, Seoul city council member Lee Jong-bae announced that he filed a complaint against Kim with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency for defamation by spreading false information under the Information and Communications Network Act. On the 16th, Kim said on CBS Radio regarding Kim Eo-jun's remarks such as "an assassination squad was activated" and "there was a plan to kill," "It is possible that it is true. The U.S. was probably eavesdropping on the presidential office."

Lee stated, "The U.S. Embassy and the State Department clearly stated that it is not true, and the Democratic Party has effectively admitted that it is false information," adding, "Forming fake public opinion through absurd rumors aims to influence the Constitutional Court's ruling, and this is truly an act of rebellion."

On the 13th, Kim Eo-jun attended a current affairs inquiry of the Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting and Communications Committee and said, "Although it is not confirmed information, the initial tip I received was that it was not an arrest squad but an assassination squad that was activated," adding, "The source of the information is an allied country with an embassy in Korea."
