Governor Kim Youngrok Urges Ministry of Industry for Prompt Designation of 3.2GW Cluster Complex

Jeollanam-do and the Jeonnam Wind Power Industry Association held the "Jeonnam Wind Power Night" event in Mokpo on the 18th, urging the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to promptly designate the 3.2GW wind power cluster. In addition, participants pledged to foster the Mokpo and Haenam area as the leading offshore wind power cluster in the Asia-Pacific region.
Under the slogan "The Power of the Sea, Offshore Wind Power as the Future of Jeonnam!", the event was attended by Kim Yungrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Jang Chungmo, President of the Jeonnam Wind Power Industry Association, Park Hongryul, Mayor of Mokpo, Park Woolyang, Governor of Shinan County, representatives from the embassies of Denmark, Norway, and the United Kingdom, as well as about 200 representatives and experts from domestic offshore wind power companies and organizations.
The event was held in a forum format, featuring a keynote speech by Kim Beomseok, a professor at Jeju National University, on "The Need to Promote Offshore Wind Power Deployment and Build a Supply Chain," as well as discussions on the direction for fostering an offshore wind power equipment cluster and the final report of the Offshore Wind Power Expert Committee.
In his opening remarks, Kim Yungrok stated, "Despite the very challenging situation in the domestic and international offshore wind power markets, Jeonnam offshore wind power is making steady progress with the designation of Mokpo New Port and Haenam Hwawon Industrial Complex as Opportunity Development Zones, and the completion of the first privately-led 96MW Jeonnam Offshore Wind Power Phase 1 project in Korea." He urged the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to promptly designate the 3.2GW Shinan wind power cluster.
