Currently, Yeoju City faces ongoing inconveniences for citizens using public transportation due to long intervals between city bus dispatches and operation on multiple routes. Additionally, most routes operate at a deficit, causing the budget to continuously increase to cover the losses of transportation companies.

Based on this project, comprehensive analysis will be conducted using public transportation data such as local public transportation usage and the number of passengers boarding and alighting at stops to develop a city bus route reform plan tailored to Yeoju City's conditions. Furthermore, a plan to revitalize the smart bus (DRT) system linked to the route reform will be established to improve the overall public transportation system.

In the first half of 2025, a comprehensive field survey and analysis will be conducted, and an explanatory meeting will be held to gather sufficient opinions from public transportation users. Based on this, a public transportation system improvement plan will be prepared, aiming to select and operate a pilot zone in the second half of the year.

Mayor Lee Chung-woo of Yeoju City stated, "Based on this project survey, we aim to identify the fundamental causes of public transportation issues and comprehensively improve local public transportation, including city bus route reform and the expanded introduction of smart buses in transportation-disadvantaged areas." He added, "We will strive to provide better public transportation services to the citizens of Yeoju."
