The apples sold through the public home shopping broadcast were sized conveniently for home consumption, weighing 250~277g each, with 18~20 apples per 5kg box. The price was 39,900 KRW per 5kg, offering fresh and delicious Inje-grown new-season apples at an affordable price.

This year, Inje-gun sold 2,193 sets (88 million KRW) during the first broadcast on November 28th, and buoyed by popularity, sold 3,690 sets (150 million KRW) in the second broadcast on December 16th. Sales volume has steadily increased each year, with 1,400 sets sold in 2022 and 2,650 sets in 2023.

Inje-gun analyzed that the high quality of Inje apples and strong consumer trust were the main factors driving the increase in sales.

Grown in a high-altitude area with large temperature differences and abundant sunlight, Inje apples boast a harmonious balance of sweetness and acidity, a crisp texture, and a fragrant flavor. According to a public home shopping official, the repurchase rate of Inje apples is very high, indicating strong trust in their quality.

Additionally, the cooperative system among farmers, the county, distribution channels, and public home shopping played an important role. Producer organizations such as the Inje Apple Association and Inje Apple Agricultural Cooperative Corporation selected and packaged excellent apples, while the distribution specialist organization, Inje Agricultural Specialty Product Distribution Corporation, closely collaborated with the home shopping company to manage quality assurance (QA). The county’s broadcast support and prior promotion formed a perfect trio, leading to successful sales.

Kim Sun-ik, Director of Distribution and Livestock at Inje-gun, stated, “Inje-grown apples sold out completely during the first broadcast this year, and the additional broadcast achieved great results. We will continue to maintain quality control and expand sales channels while striving to widely promote the excellent agricultural products of Inje-gun.”
