According to the Aerospace Administration on the 18th, the council, which held its launching ceremony on the same day, includes 17 local governments from cities and provinces across the country, national technoparks, government-funded research institutes such as the Korea Aerospace Research Institute and the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute.

The council is part of the aerospace cluster development plan promoted by the Aerospace Administration. It was established to identify the current status of aerospace infrastructure scattered across local governments, analyze regional strengths, and derive development plans for the aerospace industry.

The council plans to prepare detailed implementation tasks to promote commercialization and serve as a channel for close consultation with local governments.

Jung Hye-kyung, head of the Aerospace Industry Policy Division at the Aerospace Administration, said, "We will actively seek ways to coexist and develop with each local government and their communities through continuous interest and support from the central government in the future."

Kim Min-seok, vice president of the Aerospace Association, said, "For South Korea, a latecomer, to gain competitiveness in the new aerospace era, it is very important to pioneer and preoccupy new markets through convergence of aerospace technology with future key industries such as semiconductors, AI, energy, and mobility."
