On Social Media: "A Ruinous Bill That Will Burden Future Generations"
Chungcheongnam-do Governor Kim Taeheum urged Acting President Han Ducksoo on the 18th to exercise his veto for the sake of the nation's future regarding six bills, including the four agricultural laws and the amendment to the National Assembly Testimony and Appraisal Act, which were unilaterally passed by the opposition party.
On social media that day, Governor Kim argued that these bills “go against the principles of the free market economy, burden the national finances by trillions of won annually, and will place a heavy load on future generations, making them ruinous for the country.”
He particularly pointed out, “If bills that support the prices of rice and other agricultural products with tax money are implemented, it will create a vicious cycle where the fiscal burden from oversupply increases exponentially.”
He added, “If a clothing shop owner has all their leftover stock bought with tax money, is that really a business?” and emphasized, “The problems of agriculture and rural communities must be solved through improvements in structure and systems.”
Regarding the National Assembly Testimony and Appraisal Act, he said, “If witnesses and references can be summoned indiscriminately, how can businesspeople do their jobs properly?” and pointed out, “Even though personal information and trade secrets must be thoroughly protected, if refusal to submit materials is not allowed, there is a risk that key corporate technologies could be leaked.”
Targeting the Democratic Party, Governor Kim said, “The government of the Republic of Korea is not your spoils of war, and it is certainly not a puppet,” adding, “Stop immediately the act of threatening even the acting president with impeachment as if wielding an old sword like Zhao Zilong, and process bills through bipartisan agreement.”
