Raised and Delivered 99 Million Won in Donations
Supported Approximately 2.2 Billion Won in Medical Expenses Over 16 Years
S-Oil donated funds raised from employee salary rounding up to treat children with rare diseases.
On the 18th, S-Oil announced that it delivered 99 million KRW for the treatment of children with biliary atresia from low-income families to the Korea National Council on Social Welfare at its headquarters in Gongdeok-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The donation fund was raised by about 1,700 S-Oil employees who collected less than 10,000 KRW each month from their salaries through rounding up.
Biliary atresia is a rare neonatal disease in which part or all of the bile ducts are blocked, preventing bile from being discharged into the intestines and causing liver damage. Treatment involves performing the Kasai procedure to create a new bile duct or, if the condition worsens, a liver transplant surgery.
Since 2008, S-Oil has partnered with the Korea National Council on Social Welfare through the "Campaign to Bring Bright Smiles to Children with Rare Diseases" to support children with biliary atresia from low-income families. Through this initiative, S-Oil has provided approximately 2.2 billion KRW in treatment costs to 210 patient families over 16 years.
