Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) held an election for the preliminary public support promotion committee chairperson for the reconstruction of Seongsan Siyoung Apartment on December 15 at the residents' representative meeting room of Seongsan Siyoung Apartment.

The public support system for reconstruction is a system where the public sector supports project management from the planning stage of the maintenance project to its completion. Mapo-gu is currently promoting the formation of the reconstruction association promotion committee for Seongsan Siyoung Apartment under the public support system.

As a result of the vote count on the day, candidate Kim Ah-young was elected as the preliminary promotion committee chairperson with 80.22% of the votes cast, leading the reconstruction of Seongsan Siyoung Apartment, including the formation of the promotion committee.

This election was an important procedure to determine the direction of the reconstruction project, with a participation rate of 35.66%.

With this, Seongsan Siyoung Apartment has taken a step closer to being reborn as the largest residential complex in Gangbuk, with up to 40 floors and a total of 4,823 households (including 516 public housing units).

Preliminary promotion committee chairperson Kim Ah-young stated that she plans to recommend 110% of preliminary promotion committee members considering the neighborhood, number of households, number of units, types of facilities, and operating regulations, including candidates who lost in the election.

Mapo-gu will review the suitability of the list submitted by the preliminary promotion committee chairperson and assign serial numbers to the consent forms for the establishment of the maintenance project association promotion committee in accordance with Article 36 of the Urban and Residential Environment Maintenance Act.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, "I hope that the reconstruction of Seongsan Siyoung Apartment, a long-awaited project for local residents, will proceed swiftly and transform into the largest residential complex in Gangbuk in name and reality." He added, "Mapo-gu will spare no administrative support to ensure the smooth progress of the reconstruction of Seongsan Siyoung Apartment." He emphasized, "Along with the rapid promotion of the maintenance project, we will do our best to improve residents' housing stability and the environment to make Mapo an even better place to live."

Seongsan Siyoung Apartment announced that it aims to obtain the consent of the majority of landowners and others by March 2025 to approve the formation of the reconstruction promotion committee.
