Mokpo City Named 'Outstanding Local Government' in National Mind Investment Support Project

Professional Psychological Counseling Services Offered to Citizens

Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 17th that it was selected as an outstanding local government at the “2024 National Mind Investment Support Project Evaluation Conference” hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, held recently at Koreana Hotel in Seoul, and received a reward of 7 million KRW.


The “National Mind Investment Support Project” provides professional psychological counseling services to citizens experiencing emotional difficulties such as depression and anxiety, and has been implemented since July. The city newly undertook this project and actively promoted it to revitalize the new initiative among 23 neighborhoods, universities, and mental health institutions.

In particular, through the professional psychological counseling service voucher, the city provided emotional stability and psychological support to about 160 citizens, making continuous efforts to care for mental health. The city also supported citizens in accessing customized psychological counseling services without financial burden and actively promoted the availability of counseling through various channels, including online platforms.


In the evaluation of 229 cities, counties, and districts nationwide, the city received high marks for the service application rate, the number of registered service providers and personnel, and the service utilization rate.


An official from the city health center stated, “We will spare no effort to ensure that all citizens who need psychological counseling can enjoy a stable life,” and added, “Anyone in need of assistance can contact the city’s Mental Health Welfare Center at any time.”
