One-Year Term
Gwangju Bank announced on the 17th that it has decided to renew the term of President Ko Byung-il, whose term expires at the end of December.
The CEO Candidate Recommendation Committee of JB Financial Group's subsidiary recently recommended Ko Byung-il as the sole candidate for the next president of Gwangju Bank. After final confirmation through the Gwangju Bank Executive Candidate Recommendation Committee's review, he was officially appointed at the shareholders' meeting on the 17th. The term is one year.
Ko Byung-il, who took office as the 14th president of Gwangju Bank in January last year, has devoted himself to community-based win-win management for two years, according to Gwangju Bank. He has been recognized for his management capabilities through achievements such as maintaining Gwangju Metropolitan City's primary treasury status, practicing community-based win-win management, securing future growth engines through fintech and platform partnerships and collaborations, and contributing 10% of annual net profit to the local community through social contribution activities.
President Ko said, "I sincerely thank the local residents and customers who have entrusted me with this important responsibility once again. I promise to devote all my efforts to creating a sustainable 100-year bank with even firmer confidence in future management plans." He added, "Although a difficult period is expected due to increased volatility in the domestic and international financial environment, we will leap forward as a leading bank by achieving substantial qualitative growth through change and innovation."
He also stated, "As a regional hometown bank, we will accelerate efforts to seek practical support measures that local residents and customers can truly feel, with a sense of mission and responsibility representing the region."
President Ko was born in Gwangju in 1966 and graduated from Kumho High School and the Department of Economics at Chonnam National University. He joined Gwangju Bank in 1991 and has served as branch manager of Imbangul-daero Branch and Baegundong Branch, head of the Personal Sales Strategy Department, head of the General Planning Department, vice president of the Sales Headquarters 1, and vice president of the Management Planning Headquarters (CFO) concurrently serving as vice president of the Fund Market Headquarters.
