Jokyuil Jinju Mayor Engages in On-site Communication with Export Companies Amid Impeachment Crisis

Checking Export Difficulties and Collaborating on Field-Based
Support Measures Development

Joo Kyu-il, Mayor of Jinju City, Gyeongnam, visited major export companies to check and support the difficulties faced by export companies.


The visit on the 16th was carried out to closely monitor the export trends of companies located in Jinju City amid rising domestic and international economic uncertainties following the approval of the impeachment motion and the high exchange rate situation.


On that day, Mayor Joo visited Woosung Jeonggong in Jinseong Industrial Complex and Glucan in the Bio-Industry Specialized Industrial Complex to listen to the difficulties faced by companies and to prepare measures to resolve them.

Seong Hyun-seok, CEO, said at the meeting with Mayor Joo Kyu-il, “We are actively responding to reduce the concerns of existing overseas clients about the current domestic situation. We will strive to develop more competitive products through this opportunity.” He added, “We hope for active support so that domestic companies can enter overseas markets, including support for participation in specialized international exhibitions next year.”


Glucan CEO Cho Hyung-rae stated, “Starting from raw material development, there have been many difficult processes such as various tests, overseas patent applications, and overseas market development, but we are growing thanks to the meticulous support from Jinju City and the Jinju Bio-Industry Promotion Agency. We suggest that Jinju City, Gyeongsang National University Hospital, and the Bio-Industry Promotion Agency continue to support through industry-academia-research cooperation even at the clinical trial stage after product development.”


In response, Mayor Joo Kyu-il said, “Jinju City is striving to build a closer cooperative system with export-related organizations such as KOTRA and the Korea International Trade Association to provide seamless support.” He added, “Even in a situation of high domestic and international uncertainties, we always listen carefully to the voices of companies working hard for exports and will actively reflect the suggestions in policies.”


Meanwhile, Jinju City plans to actively support companies’ exports next year as well to stabilize people’s livelihoods and recover the local economy. In particular, it will newly promote the ‘Export Company Brand Marketing Support Project,’ which supports the entire export process for beginner export companies, and expand support for ‘export insurance premiums’ to strengthen the export safety net.


In addition, as customized export support projects, Jinju City plans to provide a total of 442 million KRW to support ▲holding export consultation meetings such as trade delegations ▲production of overseas marketing promotional materials ▲participation in individual international exhibitions ▲overseas branches and businesses.
