Samsung Electronics Begins Global Strategy Meeting Today... Focused Discussion on Next Year's Business Strategy

According to the business community on the 17th, Samsung Electronics will hold a global strategy meeting for three days starting today to brainstorm next year’s business plans.

On the 17th, the Device Experience (DX) division and the Mobile Experience (MX) business unit will hold meetings, on the 18th the Visual Display (VD) and Digital Appliances (DA) business units will hold meetings, and on the 19th, the Device Solutions (DS) division, which is responsible for the semiconductor business, will hold a meeting.

Samsung Electronics’ global strategy meetings are held twice a year, in June and December, where executives from home and abroad gather to share current issues by business division and region, and exchange opinions on next year’s business goals and sales strategies.

Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman and head of the DX division, and Jeon Young-hyun, Vice Chairman and head of the DS division, will each preside over the meetings. Chairman Lee Jae-yong is expected to receive reports on business strategies later, as he does not attend the meetings in person as in previous years.

Amid increasing global management uncertainties, this meeting is expected to discuss strategies to expand sales by product, risk hedging strategies against high exchange rates, and more.

The MX business unit, led by President Roh Tae-moon, is expected to focus on reviewing sales strategies for the first half of next year’s lineup, including the Galaxy S25. They will review strategies to strengthen premium phone leadership and simultaneously seek strategies to expand sales of mid- to low-end products in response to Chinese competition.

For the TV and home appliance business, they will review operational plans for each product, including new products to be showcased at the world’s largest electronics and IT exhibition, CES 2025, scheduled for next year, and discuss ways to expand Samsung TV Plus and home appliance subscription services. They will also brainstorm country-specific customized marketing strategies.

In the DS division, executives in charge of major business units and key domestic and overseas bases will gather in one place to reflect on the overall sluggishness of the semiconductor business this year, including high-bandwidth memory (HBM), and seek various solutions to fundamentally restore competitiveness.

With external variables surrounding the semiconductor industry increasing, such as the intensifying US-China conflict ahead of the second term of the Donald Trump administration in the US, in-depth discussions are expected to be held to share next year’s semiconductor market outlook and prepare measures to minimize risks.
