Police to Request Composition Analysis from National Forensic Service

In Incheon, the police have launched an investigation after elementary school students complained of nausea symptoms after eating chocolates given by a stranger woman conducting missionary activities in front of the school.

According to Yonhap News and the Incheon Nonhyeon Police Station on the 16th, around 8 a.m. that day, seven elementary school students near an elementary school in Namdong-gu, Incheon, experienced nausea and dizziness after eating chocolates handed out by a woman in her 40s, identified as Ms. A.

When seven students from grades 3 and 5 to 6 simultaneously reported similar symptoms, the school nurse reported it to the police around 9:50 a.m. that day. The students who ate the chocolates left school early and received treatment at a hospital with their parents, and it was reported that their symptoms have since improved.

The police decided to request an analysis of the chocolate's ingredients from the National Forensic Service. Health authorities are also examining whether the chocolates contained food poisoning bacteria. It was confirmed that the chocolates distributed by Ms. A were products that had not passed their expiration date.

A police official said, "The hospital mentioned that food poisoning was suspected, but a definitive diagnosis has not yet been made."
