The Justice and Peace Committee of the Catholic Diocese of Jeonju and the Justice and Peace Priests' Group announced that starting from the 16th, they will hold indefinite Mass every Monday evening at 7 p.m. at Jeonju Central Cathedral until the Constitutional Court's impeachment ruling on President Yoon Suk-yeol is finalized.
They stated, "In the Catholic Church, a national declaration was issued last November under the names of 1,466 priests, demanding the dismissal of Yoon Suk-yeol, who is driving our country into a society of lies, violence, and division," adding, "However, as if mocking this serious warning, Yoon Suk-yeol committed an outrageous unconstitutional act of martial law on the 3rd."
They continued, "Our priests' group will stand with the people and pray for the restoration of democracy until all of Yoon Suk-yeol's crimes are fully revealed."
Meanwhile, on November 28, the Justice and Peace Priests' Group issued a national declaration in the names of 1,466 Catholic priests. In the declaration, they claimed, "In the case of President Yoon Suk-yeol, the degree is excessive," and "He is a private interest puppet and a marionette who does not even know who he is and has handed over the authority entrusted by the people to a woman."
They further urged, "The sacrifices and efforts of our ancestors and seniors who devoted their bodies, minds, and sincerity for independence, democracy, survival, and prosperity are becoming futile," and called for "impeachment to hold him accountable for abandoning all presidential duties, from upholding the constitution and national security to the peaceful reunification of the homeland and the welfare of the people."
