Baek Young-hyun, Pocheon Mayor, Receives 'Proud Gyeonggi-do Museum Award' Merit Award

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced that Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon was selected as the recipient of the '2024 20th Proud Gyeonggi-do Museum Person Award' for merit, hosted by the Gyeonggi-do Museum Association (President Shim Jae-in) on the 16th.

The award ceremony is an event that honors individuals who have contributed to the development of museums in Gyeonggi-do, establishing itself as an important annual event in the Gyeonggi-do museum community. This year, six awardees were selected across three categories: curator, director, and merit, recognizing their contributions in each field.

In particular, Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon was selected as the recipient in the merit category, acknowledged for his contributions to the establishment of the Pocheon City Museum and the promotion of the Pocheon city history compilation project.

In his acceptance speech, Mayor Baek Young-hyun said, “I believe this award is an encouragement and support given to everyone who worked together for the establishment of the Pocheon City Museum,” adding, “We plan to build the Pocheon City Museum as a cultural hub and a source of cultural vitality for citizens that reflects the unique characteristics of Pocheon. I ask for your continued advice and cooperation.”

This award ceremony served to boost the morale of museum workers and strengthen the museum network within Gyeonggi-do, aiming to continuously develop local history and culture.
