203 High School Students, University Students, and Out-of-School Youth
Gwangju Buk-gu announced on the 16th that it will select 203 scholarship recipients this year, including high school students, university students, and out-of-school youth, and provide scholarships totaling 308 million won in cooperation with the Buk-gu Scholarship Foundation.
The award ceremony, held at Buk-gu Office on the 18th, will be attended by about 100 people including scholarship recipients and their parents, and will include a ‘Report on the Selection Process of Scholarship Recipients,’ ‘Presentation of Scholarship Certificates,’ and ‘Speeches by Scholarship Recipients.’
The selected recipients include 36 high school students, 163 university students, and 4 out-of-school youth, totaling 203 people.
The scholarship amounts are 700,000 won each for high school students and out-of-school youth, 1.5 million won for junior college students, and 2 million won for university students, totaling 308 million won. This is a 2.4% increase compared to last year’s support amount.
Moon In, the mayor of Buk-gu, said, “This year, we raised the scholarships for junior college students, high school students, and out-of-school youth by 200,000 won each to provide more benefits to scholarship recipients. We will continue to actively support the dreams of local talents through scholarship projects established and operated based on the spirit of sharing in the local community.”
Meanwhile, the Buk-gu Scholarship Foundation, established in 2007, has raised a total of 7.97 billion won in scholarship funds through contributions from Buk-gu and donations from various sectors, and has provided scholarships totaling about 2.7 billion won to 2,676 students so far.
