The center was selected for the 2023 Gyeonggi The Dream Regeneration Project (around 1111 Hoguk-ro Street) and signed a public-private-academic cooperation agreement to revitalize the Kyungmin University Road alley commercial district. Accordingly, it has conducted five village management community workshops to promote a mutually beneficial urban regeneration project.

At this event, the achievements of the projects carried out so far, including ▲ creation of Kyungmin University Square and shopping district ▲ revitalization of the university road alley commercial district ▲ operation and capacity building of the university road management community ▲ and business improvement projects, were shared, and opinions on sustainable activation plans for Kyungmin University Road were exchanged. In addition, to mark the year-end and New Year, the event concluded with the alley market ‘Nuni-rang’ where participants wrote their wishes.

Lee Sang-rae, representative of the Kyungmin University Shopping District Residents’ Council, said, “The urban regeneration project has greatly helped revitalize the alley commercial district,” and “I sincerely thank everyone who worked hard.”

Heo Nam-jun, Director of the Urban Regeneration Division, said, “As a result of the joint efforts of the public, private, and academic sectors to revitalize the alley commercial district, Kyungmin University Road has changed and become a model case of urban regeneration projects,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to transform the region through urban regeneration projects.”

Meanwhile, prior to the performance sharing meeting and workshop, an awards ceremony was held for the Gyeonggi Northern Region University Students’ Social Value Camp (an idea contest related to urban regeneration projects) hosted by the Kyungmin University Creative Liberal Arts Enrichment Center. The center plans to continue promoting urban regeneration projects through collaboration and solidarity connecting local youth and universities.
