'1st Anniversary' Naver Chichijik, 2.5 Million Monthly Users... Diversifying Revenue and Strengthening Creator Support

Naver's streaming platform Chijijik, which celebrated its first anniversary since launch, has surpassed 2.5 million monthly active users (MAU).


According to Chijijik on the 16th, the MAU reached 2.5 million as of last month. Additionally, it secured 148 partner streamers and accumulated a total of 4.82 million broadcasts over the past year, setting new records. Chijijik launched its first service in December last year, started beta service in February this year, and officially launched in May.


Furthermore, Chijijik held a meeting for partner streamers yesterday at Naver’s headquarters, 1784. The event highlighted the achievements of the past year and shared the major business roadmap planned for next year.


Over the past year, Chijijik sequentially introduced its key features including ▲improved viewing quality through By-pass streaming ▲TTS (text-to-speech) using partner streamers’ voices ▲fast replay ▲Drops, unique to Chijijik.


Enhancing user experience through interoperability with other services such as Clips, Cafes, and Naver Pay was also identified as a major growth factor. In particular, with the official opening of Chijijik in May, the Clip service was quickly integrated and has now become a key feature for discovering and exploring streamers. In fact, as of last month, the number of Clip plays and creations increased by 82% and 74% respectively compared to the previous month.


Chijijik is also diversifying its content ecosystem by securing broadcasting rights for not only popular esports content but also various other content including sports outside of gaming and animation.


At the meeting, Chijijik revealed its main service directions for next year. While enhancing features related to diversifying streamers’ revenue streams, it plans to further expand support measures so that creative content attempts can continue in a stable environment.


Chijijik will link streamer channels with Smart Store, enabling streamers to more easily showcase merchandise they create to their fans. Purchase links for Smart Store products will also be connectable within broadcasts. Subscription product benefits will be improved to enhance subscriber verification effects.


The content production support program will also be expanded. Responding to streamers’ requests to quickly produce small-scale projects into content, the existing program that provided up to 30 million KRW per person four times a year will be restructured to allow applications up to six times annually. The scope of support will be significantly broadened. Starting in the second half of next year, content production support programs will be offered not only to Chijijik partner streamers but also to pro-level streamers, creating an environment focused on content creation.


Support for virtual streamers will also be expanded. Chijijik recently began building a dedicated studio called 'Motion Stage,' which integrates media technology, aiming to expand the virtual ecosystem, and is operating a content production support program. In 2025, this program will be expanded to further activate debut showcases and related content production support for virtual musicians focusing on music.


Chijijik will also hold official game tournaments under its title. Currently, Chijijik regularly hosts game competitions such as Chistival and Chiraksil, which involve streamers competing in record challenges.


Kim Jeongmi, leader of Naver Chijijik, stated, "In 2025, we plan to continue advancing the service to encompass both streamers and users by revamping the viewing experience, significantly expanding streamer support, and maturing and diversifying the content ecosystem, while striving to provide an even more enjoyable streaming experience."
