118 Former Environmental Officials of the District Donate Funds on the 11th... 14 Years of Donations Since 2011
Awarding Plaques of Appreciation to 3 Retirees... District Mayor Seogangseok Thanks for Their Efforts in Protecting the District Environment
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that on the 11th, it received a donation of 3 million KRW for the ‘Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ from environmental public officers affiliated with Songpa-gu and held a retirement commendation plaque ceremony.
Since 2011, Songpa-gu environmental public officers have participated in the ‘Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ fundraising for 14 years, practicing sharing with neighbors in need. This year as well, all 118 environmental public officers of the Seoul City Hall Labor Union Songpa-gu branch generously donated 3 million KRW collected bit by bit for neighbors in need to the district office.
On the 11th, a donation ceremony was held at the district office where 10 environmental public officers personally delivered the collected funds. The donations gathered that day will be used by the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest to support vulnerable groups such as low-income disabled persons, single-parent families, and elderly living alone.
Following this, a commendation plaque ceremony was held for four environmental public officers scheduled for retirement. They are veterans with a maximum service period of 16 years and were the main figures who collected ginkgo leaves in the area last November to reduce fallen leaf disposal costs and promote regional coexistence, personally transporting them to Nami Island.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, expressed his gratitude, saying, “I thank those who have worked tirelessly for over 10 years for a clean urban environment and support their new chapter in life.” The retirees also responded, “We worked with a sense of fulfillment. We thank the district office for preparing the retirement ceremony.”
Attendees also expressed their gratitude to the district office for improving the poor rest area last year by providing a comfortable new break room.
In addition, the district office is actively introducing the latest equipment with high work efficiency, such as eco-friendly street sweepers, and making multifaceted efforts to improve the welfare of environmental public officers by providing vaccinations and special summer meals.
Mayor Seo Gang-seok said, “I thank the environmental public officers who, despite being busy from fallen leaves in November to snow removal throughout the winter, never forget to practice love for their neighbors,” and added, “We will continue to strive to create an inclusive city by spreading a warm donation culture.”
