Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheol-woo urged the entire Han Dong-hoon administration of the People Power Party to resign on the 15th.
Through Facebook on the same day, Governor Lee said, "I am very saddened by the National Assembly's approval of the presidential impeachment motion. This is already the third presidential impeachment motion in 20 years in the National Assembly," and asked, "How long will we continue the extreme confrontational politics and the crisis of state affairs?"
Governor Lee requested, "The National Assembly should immediately launch a special committee on constitutional amendment to end the 1987 system of the imperial presidency and open the 7th Republic, where collective intelligence can cooperate and practice politics of coexistence," and expressed the view that "the Han Dong-hoon administration must resign en masse. Despite having a minority of seats and needing to confront the majority, they bear great responsibility for failing to unite and causing division."
He continued, "The People Power Party must undergo thorough reform and rise again even if it must walk a thorny path of hardship. The greatest mistake was creating a precarious Republic of Korea with a broken right wing. For conservatism to rise again in a new form is the true path of reflection and apology to the people and history," and added, "The opposition party cannot escape responsibility for paralyzing state affairs through monopolizing the National Assembly and frequent impeachment motions. I hope they actively cooperate in opening the 7th Republic through constitutional amendment on this occasion."
