Gumi High Tech Energy·Koramco Asset Management - Gyeongbuk Province·Gumi City Sign MOU
Eco-friendly Data Center, Gumi City Advances AI Advanced Digital Cluster Development
On the 13th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the construction of an advanced complex facility combining an AI data center and a hydrogen fuel cell power plant at Gumi High-Tech Valley (5th Industrial Complex Phase 1) at City Hall. The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province; Kim Jang-ho, Mayor; Park Gyo-sang, Chairman of the City Council; Kim Byung-seon, CEO of Gumi High-Tech Energy; and Park Hyung-seok, CEO of Koramco Asset Management.
This investment, totaling 2 trillion KRW, is a core project that actively responds to the government’s policy of decentralizing data centers to local regions while propelling Gumi City to become a central city for advanced industries and eco-friendly energy.

The project is led by Gumi High-Tech Energy and promoted as a consortium in cooperation with Koramco Asset Management’s financial support, construction companies, and specialized operators. Gumi High-Tech Energy plans to establish an eco-friendly and energy-efficient system by 2028 that utilizes electricity produced by hydrogen fuel cells in Gumi, which boasts abundant power supply and a safe natural environment, for operating large-scale data centers.
This marks the first achievement of Gumi City’s ongoing ‘AI Advanced Digital Cluster Construction Plan’ and is expected to significantly contribute not only to the concentration of related industries and revitalization of the local economy but also to the national-level balanced digital development.
Gyeongbuk Province and Gumi City will continue to provide active administrative support and investment attraction activities to ensure the successful implementation of Gumi High-Tech Energy’s project.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho emphasized, “We will spare no administrative support for the successful promotion of this project and work closely with the investing companies to smoothly proceed with all procedures. Starting with this investment, Gumi City will cluster AI data centers, whose demand is rapidly increasing in local regions, and rise as a national advanced city.”
