Dongseo University-BICF Sign Memorandum of Understanding for Comedy Talent Development

Cooperation with Specialized Universities to Pioneer and Develop the Comedy Genre

Establishment of a Professional Training Program for Comedy Actors in Busan

On the 12th, Dongseo University announced on the 13th that it signed a business agreement with the Busan International Comedy Festival Organizing Committee (Executive Chairman Kim Jun-ho) at Dongseo University Centum Campus to develop the 'BICF-Dongseo University Comedy Actor Training Education Program.'


The signing ceremony was attended by Dongseo University President Jang Je-guk, Industry-Academic Cooperation Group Director Hwang Ki-hyun, Q College Dean Kwak Jun-sik, Im Kwon-taek College of Film and Arts Dean Kim Dae-seung, Musical Entertainment Department Head Oh Se-jun, BICF Executive Chairman Kim Jun-ho, Director Kim Dae-hee, Vice Executive Chairman Choi Dae-woong, and Vice Executive Chairman Jo Kwang-sik.


Through this agreement, the organizing committee and Dongseo University plan to open a comedian talent development program and collaborate on developing new content.


The Musical Entertainment Department of the Im Kwon-taek College of Film and Arts at Dongseo University will produce high-quality performance content through practice-centered classes and present performances at the 13th Busan International Comedy Festival (August 22?31, 2025).


In the future, the subject will be newly established as a regular course at the university, and the Busan International Comedy Festival Organizing Committee will form the faculty to conduct a practice-oriented curriculum.


Through planning, production, and training of comedy performances, actual performance content will be created, and feedback from the faculty will provide opportunities to be seen directly on the Busan International Comedy Festival stage. Collaborating with Dongseo University, a university specialized in cultural content, this will lay the foundation for mutual cooperation to develop into the establishment of a comedy acting major.


President Jang Je-guk of Dongseo University said, “Dongseo University will actively nurture talent in the cultural content comedy field in cooperation with the Busan International Comedy Festival and promote the diversity of culture and arts in Busan,” adding, “We will do our best to grow into K-Comedy originating from Busan as a stepping stone.”


Kim Jun-ho, Executive Chairman of BICF, said, “We are pleased to establish a regular curriculum for comedian training at Dongseo University, a university specialized in cultural content,” and added, “We will strive further for the development of comedy as cultural content.”
