Request for Prompt Project Advancement to Seoul City and Business Operators
Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) welcomed the news on the 12th that the 'Seobu Line Private Investment Project Implementation Agreement' passed the review by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and on the 13th expressed hope for the promotion of follow-up procedures for prompt construction commencement.
The Seobu Line is a 15.8 km urban railway connecting Saejeol Station on Line 6 in the western area of Seoul's Eunpyeong-gu and Seoul National University Station on Line 2 in the southern area. It is expected to significantly contribute to alleviating downtown traffic congestion and regional balanced development by supplementing the limitations of the existing transportation network.
Already, 300,000 residents have participated in signing, and local members of the National Assembly as well as city and district councilors have voiced unified support. Eunpyeong-gu warmly welcomed the passage of the Seobu Line private investment project review committee as the first step toward realizing long-awaited hopes and aspirations.
An Eunpyeong-gu official stated, "There are still stages to go through, such as signing the implementation agreement and detailed design, before construction begins," adding, "We hope the project proceeds smoothly with prompt administrative and technical preparations."
Mayor Kim Mi-kyung said, "The Seobu Line is an important route that expands the previously poor transportation infrastructure in the western area of Seoul," and added, "Eunpyeong-gu will spare no support to ensure the project proceeds smoothly, together with residents, members of the National Assembly, and city and district councilors who have worked hard for the Seobu Line."
