Guri City Council Research Group 'Jeolmeun Guri Yeonguhoe' Holds Midterm Report Meeting

Diagnosis and Improvement Plan for the Status of Private Consignment Affairs

The Guri City Council in Gyeonggi Province (Chairman Shin Dong-hwa) held an interim report meeting for the research project of the council research group, the Young Guri Research Association (Representative Lee Kyung-hee), on the 12th in the multi-room within the government building.

The Young Guri Research Association has been conducting a research project since last October under the theme of ‘Exploring a specialized childcare integration plan for Guri City.’ This interim report meeting was organized as a mid-stage checkpoint to review the progress of the research project and discuss future research directions.

At the meeting, about 30 participants including Representative Lee Kyung-hee, Councilors Kim Yong-hyun and Kim Han-seul, the research company, the council secretariat, and stakeholders from kindergartens and daycare centers attended to hear the interim report on the project from the research company.

The attendees who heard the report expressed that although childcare integration, which has remained an unresolved issue for over 30 years, has become more tangible with the revision of the government organization act and the establishment of the Early Childhood Policy Bureau within the Ministry of Education, there is still no concrete plan or budget. They welcomed the Young Guri Research Association’s project and requested that the results be shared with the city and reflected in city administration to prevent confusion among parents raising young children and current teachers, and to ensure that the children, the future leaders, are not harmed.

Representative Lee Kyung-hee said, “This interim report meeting is a moment to review the achievements of the Young Guri Research Association so far and to improve and supplement any shortcomings. Through today’s meeting, we aim to successfully complete the research project, establish a childcare integration plan specialized for Guri City, and set a model precedent in the future childcare integration process so that the children, parents, and teachers of Guri City do not experience confusion.”

Meanwhile, the research project will proceed to a final report meeting, after which the research report will be posted on the Guri City Council website.
