Local public enterprises in the Gwangju area are joining forces to overcome low birth rates and regional extinction.


Gwangju Urban Corporation (President Kim Seung-nam) officially launched the ‘Low Birth Rate and Regional Extinction Overcoming Council’ on the 12th in cooperation with seven local public enterprises in the Gwangju area to address the issues of low birth rates and regional extinction, and conducted a promotional campaign.


The signing ceremony held at Gwangju Transportation Corporation was attended by the heads and staff of seven organizations, including the Urban Corporation, Environmental Corporation, Transportation Corporation, Tourism Corporation, Seo-gu Facilities Management Corporation, Buk-gu Facilities Management Corporation, and Gwangsan-gu Facilities Management Corporation.


In this agreement, the public enterprises pledged to ▲ support marriage, childbirth, and child-rearing ▲ foster a social atmosphere that promotes work-family balance ▲ build a child-friendly social environment ▲ cooperate to improve public awareness.


After the signing ceremony, each organization conducted the ‘Let’s baby’ campaign around Gwangju Sangmu Station to encourage citizen participation, promote low birth rate policies, and distribute related souvenirs.


Kim Seung-nam, President of Gwangju Urban Corporation, said, “Local public enterprises have decided to join forces and cooperate to solve the problems of low birth rates and regional extinction,” adding, “We will continue to strive to make Gwangju a city where having and raising children is joyful.”
