The Naval Jinhae Base Command ('Jingisa') held the inauguration ceremony for the 23rd Naval Jinhae Base Commander on the 12th at the Chungmu Welfare Center within the base.
Considering the serious security situation, the event was held simply without inviting any external guests. About 700 people attended, including base commanders, staff, Jingisa soldiers, and civilian employees.
Newly appointed Jinhae Base Commander Han Seung-woo emphasized in his inaugural speech, "Jinhae Base is a strategic point for the Republic of Korea's maritime security and the heart of the Navy," adding, "We must establish the highest level of base defense readiness to respond immediately in any situation."
He continued, "We must realize combat support filled with emotion and communication for the crew returning from long voyages, as if welcoming an old friend back home, contributing to the enhancement of combat power. If Jingisa leads the military culture, new changes and vitality will permeate beyond Jinhae Base throughout the Navy. Let us build a 'vibrant unit that walks together.'"
Han Seung-woo, the new Jinhae Base Commander, was commissioned in 1996 as the 50th class of the Naval Academy. He has held various key positions both at sea and on land, including commanding officer of the Jeonggeungmo and Andong ships, Deputy Chief of Personnel/Education at Navy Headquarters, and Chief of the Secretary Office at Navy Headquarters, gaining extensive command experience and military insight.
