The medical facility in Cheongna Medical Complex Town (Seoul Asan Cheongna Hospital) was selected as the grand prize winner of the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) Landscape Award.
On the 12th, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority held the '2024 IFEZ Landscape Award Ceremony' at G Tower in Songdo International City.
The winning entries were selected through two rounds of evaluation from a total of 71 cases that passed the landscape review between November last year and October this year, based on criteria such as consistency with the landscape plan, creativity, distinctiveness, and sustainability of architectural design. One grand prize and six excellence awards were chosen.
The grand prize was awarded to the medical facility in Cheongna Medical Complex Town (Seoul Asan Cheongna Hospital). It received high praise for its highly detailed and faithful design to the landscape master plan, as well as for actively incorporating building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) as a design element, achieving eco-friendliness and originality.

The excellence awards in the general architecture category went to ▲ Songdo Ic-1-5 Block Knowledge Industry Center ▲ Cheongna C6-S4-7, 8 Block Neighborhood Living Facilities ▲ Cheongna IHP Bluecom Factory Facilities ▲ Songdo Ia-7(2) Block KZ R&D Center. In the residential architecture category, ▲ Songdo A8 Block Apartment Complex, and in the public architecture category, ▲ Songdo G Block Advanced 1 High School were selected.
The IFEZ Landscape Award also presents certificates to the building owners. This is to acknowledge that not only the architect’s capabilities but also the mindset and will of the building owner are very important in producing excellent architectural design.
Following the award ceremony, the second part featured lectures on the theme of 'Sustainable Landscape' by Lee Eun-jung, CEO of Yul; Won Jong-yeon, CEO of Ned; and Eom Ji-yeon, CEO of EOD Design.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced that at the 'IFEZ Landscape Academy,' which introduces and promotes excellent architectural designs, the architects of the seven award-winning projects will directly explain the concepts and design processes of their architectural designs. It will also be available on the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority’s YouTube channel at the end of this month.
Yoon Won-seok, head of the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, stated, "Landscape is an essential element of urban competitiveness that enhances the city's charm and vitality. We will actively encourage efforts and achievements to improve the IFEZ landscape and work in various ways to ensure that citizens can feel the impact."
