Yangpyeong-gun Receives Minister of the Interior and Safety Commendation as an 'Excellent Administrative Institution for Public Officials' Labor-Management Culture'

On the 11th, Yangpyeong-gun in Gyeonggi Province and the Yangpyeong-gun branch of the Korean Government Employees' Union announced that they were selected as an excellent administrative institution in the ‘2024 Excellent Labor-Management Culture Certification for Government Employees’ organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 4th, receiving a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety and a certification plaque.

The ‘Excellent Labor-Management Culture Certification for Government Employees’ is a system that discovers, certifies, and rewards outstanding institutions that exemplarily practice desirable labor-management practices and lead a rational labor-management culture. Selection was made through a three-stage evaluation process including document review, on-site inspection, and face-to-face evaluation by a panel of labor-management experts (professors, researchers, lawyers, etc.).

In the evaluation, Yangpyeong-gun was recognized for efforts such as providing new employee accommodations, improving unreasonable practices, promoting organizational culture innovation movements, enhancing government employees’ rights and welfare, and establishing communication channels with union members through joint labor-management workshops and meetings. Additionally, the Yangpyeong-gun government employees’ union was highly praised for its active contributions to the local community, including long-term organ donation registration, blood donation campaigns, delivery of Happy Sharing funds, and donations to the Love Temperature Tower to support vulnerable groups in Yangpyeong-gun.

On the 10th, Yangpyeong-gun held the inauguration ceremony for the 4th term of the Yangpyeong-gun government employees’ union and the certification plaque ceremony for the excellent labor-management culture administrative institution. The plaque is displayed in the lobby of Yangpyeong-gun Office, and this certification is valid for two years starting from January 1, 2025.

Kim Jong-bae, head of the Yangpyeong-gun union branch, stated, “We will strive to elevate the value of labor based on the participation and unity of union members,” and expressed his inauguration aspiration, saying, “We will do our best to promote the rights and interests so that government employees can be guaranteed a happy life.”

Jeon Jin-seon, the county governor, said, “As a former government employee, I understand and empathize with the hardships of the staff,” and added, “We will continue to work with the union to improve the working conditions of government employees and strive to make Yangpyeong-gun the most advanced labor-management culture area nationwide.”
