Prosecutors' Special Investigation Unit summons Kim Yong-hyun for 'important mission in rebellion'... First interrogation after detention

The Special Investigation Headquarters for Emergency Martial Law under the prosecution (headed by Seoul High Prosecutor Park Se-hyun) is questioning former Minister Kim on the afternoon of the 11th.

The prosecution is expected to investigate former Minister Kim regarding President Yoon Seok-yeol's orders during the martial law period, as well as the specific instructions he gave to the Martial Law Command and martial law troops.

Former Minister Kim was detained the previous day on charges including engaging in important duties related to rebellion and abuse of authority obstructing the exercise of rights. Nam Cheon-gyu, the chief judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court, explained the reason for issuing the detention warrant, stating, "Considering the degree of evidence for the crime, the seriousness of the crime, and the risk of evidence destruction."

Former Minister Kim was identified as the key figure who proposed the unconstitutional and illegal declaration of martial law to President Yoon and directly ordered martial law commanders to deploy troops to the National Assembly and the Central Election Management Committee, leading the current incident.

While awaiting the detention hearing results at the Seoul Eastern Detention Center the previous day, former Minister Kim attempted suicide and was placed in a protective room. Shin Yong-hae, head of the Correction Headquarters at the Ministry of Justice, responded to related questions at the plenary session of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee on the same day, stating, "At around 11:52 p.m. yesterday, before the warrant was issued, a control room officer discovered the suicide attempt in the restroom of the waiting area," and added, "He is currently housed in a protective room, and we have been informed that there are no health abnormalities."
