Gangdong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced on the 11th that it has recently completed a renovation project to transform Cheonho-dong Rodeo Street into a pedestrian-friendly street.
Cheonho-dong Rodeo Street (Cheonho-daero 157-gil) was established in 2004 and is a representative commercial street in the area, densely packed with hundreds of stores. It is close to Cheonho Station, served by Subway Lines 5 and 8, and is also near department stores, marts, Jjukkumi Street, and Kangpul Cartoon Street.
The district has been carrying out a comprehensive renovation project since April to revitalize the commercial area of Cheonho-dong Rodeo Street and to ensure that pedestrians and drivers can comfortably navigate the street.
Through this project, the district leveled 270 meters of road within Cheonho-dong Rodeo Street, installed 20 upgraded streetlights, and newly paved sidewalks (2,790㎡) and roads (2,180㎡). Additionally, the district remodeled aging street shops, installed tree protection plates and benches, and completed overall maintenance to create a pleasant walking environment.
District Mayor Lee Soo-hee said, “With this renovation of Cheonho-dong Rodeo Street, the entire street has become more comfortable and pleasant, and we expect the nearby commercial area to be revitalized. We hope many people will visit the newly refurbished Cheonho-dong Rodeo Street.”
