Goyang-si Sends Seizure Notices for Second Half Environmental Improvement Charge Arrears

A Total of 3,514 Cases · Overdue Amount of 1.3289 Billion KRW

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 11th that it will send seizure notices after seizing vehicles of those who have overdue environmental improvement charges for the second half of 2024.

The seizure notice targets 3,514 cases of overdue environmental improvement charges for the second term of 2024, with a total overdue amount of 1,328.9 million KRW.

Vehicles subject to seizure will have the seizure registered in the vehicle registration records, making it impossible to exercise property rights such as ownership transfer, sale, or cancellation, and the statute of limitations for collection rights (5 years) will be suspended until the seizure is lifted.

In addition, Goyang City is conducting thorough delinquency enforcement to secure claims, including alternative seizures on vehicles that are deregistered.

Payment methods for the environmental improvement charge include visiting financial institutions, internet banking, automated response services, dedicated virtual accounts, internet Giro, or Wetax, allowing payment through convenient methods.

A Goyang Special City official stated, “We will proceed with seizures not only on vehicles but also on real estate and wages of those who are overdue on environmental improvement charges to prevent long-term delinquency and increase collection rates.”
