Night Tiramisu Sequel... CU Collaborates with Chef Kwon Seongjun to Launch 'Strawberry Pistachio'

Introducing Strawberry Pistachio Bread Together

CU, a convenience store operated by BGF Retail, announced on the 11th that it will introduce the 'Matpolly Strawberry Pistachio Cup' made with seasonal strawberries.


The newly released Matpolly Strawberry Pistachio Cup (5,200 KRW) is a strawberry dessert based on a new recipe by Chef Kwon Seong-jun, the winner of Netflix's cooking competition show 'Black and White Chef.'

The Matpolly Strawberry Pistachio Cup is layered with cookies, white milk, pistachio fresh cream, strawberry jam, and fresh strawberries. In a manufacturing video released on CU's official YouTube channel on the 13th of last month, Chef Kwon also appeared.


Previously released Chestnut Tiramisu Cup sold out an average of 10,000 to 20,000 units within 20 minutes every day during the 9-day pre-order period held at Pocket CU. Even after offline store orders were placed, some stores experienced stock shortages. Since its launch, the Chestnut Tiramisu Cup has maintained the number one sales position in the refrigerated dessert category.


CU will also launch the 'Yonsei Milk Strawberry Pistachio Bread' (3,400 KRW) featuring Chef Kwon Seong-jun's recipe on the 17th. The strawberry pistachio bread contains strawberry custard and strawberry jam inside pink bread reminiscent of strawberries, with pistachio cream inside. The Yonsei Milk Cream Bread series, first released by CU in January 2022, has surpassed 50 million cumulative sales in two years.


Kim Goni, a product planner (MD) of the Snack Food Team at BGF Retail, said, "Through collaboration with Chef Kwon Seong-jun, we have launched products that reinterpret existing convenience store items in a unique way," adding, "We will continue to work with various experts to create stores where customers can always have new experiences."
