City to Issue 500 Billion Won in Local Currency Next Year

The city explained that this emergency meeting was organized to listen to the difficulties faced by small business owners struggling due to the economic downturn and reduced consumption, and to seek ways to revitalize the local economy. About 20 people, including the president of the Hwaseong City Merchants Association and nine market presidents, attended the meeting where policies to stimulate consumption and various merchants' requests were discussed.
Mayor Jeong said, "Although the situation is difficult, we will do our best to activate the domestic market to firmly support people's livelihoods and inject vitality into the local economy."
Meanwhile, the city plans to issue local currency worth 500 billion won next year, the largest scale nationwide, to promote consumption, and to fully focus on revitalizing the local commercial district by supporting traditional markets and shopping streets with 2.6 billion won in measures.
