Request at Gyeongbuk Province Executive Meeting
Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, emphasized the smooth execution of local issues and the stability of residents' livelihoods and the low-income economy in particular, amid the turmoil and difficulties of the national political and economic situation, during the executive meeting on the 10th.
Governor Lee stated, “When the central government is shaken, local governments must hold the center even more firmly. When the economy and livelihoods are difficult, everything becomes difficult, so the local economy and residents' livelihoods must be prioritized,” and added, “Projects closely related to livelihoods and the local economy should proceed as planned, and the fundamental responsibilities and roles of local administration, such as handling civil complaints and public services, must be carried out without wavering.”
He also emphasized, “As the overall social turmoil and increased uncertainty add difficulties to the local economy, budget inputs such as contingency funds and maximum necessary measures must be taken. The province and city/counties should not be discouraged but prepare various plans and promote them together.” He ordered that festivals and events hosted by the province and city/counties be carried out as originally planned to attract many tourists and actively strive to revive the local economy and stimulate consumption.
Along with this, Governor Lee gave specific instructions to implement special measures in five key areas: low-income vulnerable groups, small business owners, small and medium-sized enterprises, youth, and tourism.
He said, “During an economic downturn, the difficulties of vulnerable groups such as small business owners and low-income people increase,” emphasizing the strengthening of administrative and financial support to resolve difficulties faced by small business owners and SMEs, and the preparation of special support measures for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, disabled, and low-income people.
In addition, he instructed meticulous efforts and measures by all public officials and employees of public institutions in Gyeongbuk Province to manage major disaster safety issues such as heavy snow, cold waves, and fires during winter, ensuring that residents can spend the winter warmly.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo of Gyeongbuk Province reiterated, “In a situation where political and economic uncertainties are increasing, all public officials in Gyeongbuk Province should do their utmost with an extraordinary resolve to ensure the safety and daily lives of residents.”
