Gwangju City Holds 'Nobel Prize Celebration' Lighting Ceremony at City Hall Plaza
Providing Attractions and Entertainment for Citizens During Year-End and New Year

'The Dream of Hangang, the Light of Gwangju' has been brightly illuminated.

On the 10th at 7:45 PM, Gwangju City held a lighting ceremony for the 'Nobel Prize Celebration' sculpture dedicated to author Hangang in the lawn square in front of the City Hall Administrative Building, attended by Mayor Kang Gi-jeong and about 100 citizens.

The city created the celebratory sculpture so that citizens visiting City Hall can celebrate author Hangang's Nobel Prize win, take unforgettable photos with family, lovers, and friends at the photo zone, and simultaneously feel the atmosphere of Christmas and the year-end holidays.

The sculpture features LED lighting installed on the 'Bitgoeul Rainbow,' an arch-shaped structure 12 meters high and 49 meters long in front of the Administrative Building, with a photo zone commemorating the Nobel Prize win of Gwangju-born author Hangang on the front side.

The photo zone consists of three parts: a sculpture shaped like the cover of the work "The Boy Who Came," which deals with the May 18 Democratic Uprising; figure sculptures of former President Kim Dae-jung, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, author Hangang, professional baseball KIA Tigers player Kim Do-young, and professional soccer Gwangju FC coach Lee Jeong-hyo; and an LED channel sculpture reading "The Dream of Hangang, the Light of Gwangju."

This space is designed so that any citizen can easily take photos and enjoy themselves, promising a unique pleasure for visitors to City Hall.

Meanwhile, the lights of the celebratory sculpture for author Hangang's Nobel Prize will remain lit until January 31 of next year.
