Gyeonggi Province held the ‘2024 Gyeonggi Province Atopy and Asthma Prevention Management Project Performance Conference’ on the 10th at the Bundang Seoul National University Hospital Healthcare Innovation Park, attended by public officials in charge of city and county health centers and health teachers from Safe Schools.

The Gyeonggi Province Atopy and Asthma Education Information Center provided educational support to 1,047 cases involving 79,708 people through the Atopy and Asthma Safe Schools this year and supplied asthma and anaphylaxis emergency kits to 323 schools. Allergy disease education was also conducted 105 times for 4,888 people including firefighters, paramedics, health center officials, and local residents.


At the performance conference, an awards ceremony was held, honoring 10 outstanding institutions, 5 public officials, and 2 civilians who made efforts in atopy and asthma prevention management.


Paju City Unjeong Health Center received the Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency Award, while Seongnam City Sujeong-gu Health Center, Yongin City Suji-gu Health Center, Paju City Yewon Kindergarten, and Gwangju City Hanaram Elementary School were honored with the Governor’s Award for institutions. On this day, Paju City Unjeong Health Center and Gwangju City Hanaram Elementary School shared excellent cases of atopy and asthma prevention management. The Governor’s Award for individuals was presented to two people: Choi Young-eun (Bucheon City Sosaeul Daycare Center) and Kwon Sang-hee (Yangpyeong-gun Yangdong Elementary School).


In addition, the Gyeonggi Province Atopy and Asthma Education Information Center Director’s Award was given to institutions and individuals who actively contributed to the atopy and asthma prevention management project throughout the year.


The Grand Prize was awarded to Gwangju City Health Center, and the Excellence Award went to Bucheon City Sosa Health Center, Yangpyeong-gun Health Center, Yangju City Health Center, and Anseong City Jukhwa Elementary School. Individual awards were given to five recipients: Lim Na-kyung (Seongnam City Sujeong-gu Health Center), Go Yeon-jeong (Yongin City Suji-gu Health Center), Choi Seung-hee (Paju City Unjeong Health Center), Kwon Young-ja (Seongnam City Seongyeong Daycare Center), and Song Yong-deok (Yongin City Yongin Seongsan Elementary School).


Oh Myung-sook, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Health Promotion Division, said, “I thank the health centers and Safe School officials who worked hard throughout the year to establish a community-based atopy and asthma prevention management system,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to activate the project together with the Gyeonggi Province Atopy and Asthma Education Information Center and the newly established Northern Center as of October this year.”
