Some Media Claim 'Trust Fund' Withdrawal Possible
Holmes Declares "Completely False... Stop Talking Nonsense"
Katie Holmes, the ex-wife of Hollywood star Tom Cruise, has directly refuted rumors about their daughter Suri Noel (18). Previously, some foreign media reported that Suri received a large inheritance from her father.
On the 8th (local time), US CNN and other outlets reported that Holmes posted a screenshot of a British Daily Mail article on her Instagram, stating, "This is completely false. Stop spreading nonsense," expressing her strong denial. The media added that "it is rare for Holmes to speak publicly about her daughter Suri."
The article that Holmes angrily responded to was published on the 5th, titled "Millionaire Suri Cruise became wealthy through Tom Cruise's trust fund, and mother Katie Holmes also set up a fund for her daughter."
In the article, the Daily Mail claimed, "Suri suddenly became a wealthy teenager and can do whatever she wants," adding, "The trust fund she received from her divorced father Tom became accessible on April 18, when she turned 18."
The Daily Mail cited a source saying, "The trust fund provided by Tom is part of the divorce agreement, allowing Suri to use it when she turns 18," and "the amount is substantial." The outlet also claimed that Suri has been able to withdraw some of the funds since April and will have full access when she reaches her 30s.
Meanwhile, since Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes separated in 2012, Suri has been living with her mother Holmes. It is reported that she has not been in contact with her father Tom for a long time. Tom Cruise reportedly did not meet his daughter on her birthday this year, when she became an adult, nor at her high school graduation ceremony.
Additionally, Suri uses her mother's middle name "Noel" as her surname instead of her father's. In the casting list for the high school play "Head Over Heels" in May, she listed her full name as "Suri Noel." After graduating from LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York, Suri enrolled this fall at Carnegie Mellon University, one of the prestigious universities in the United States.
