Promoting Visiting Health and Welfare Services... Selected as an Excellent Institution for 3 Consecutive Years
Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 10th that it won the Excellence Award in the "Visiting Health and Welfare Service Provision" category at the 2024 Regional Welfare Project Evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, marking its selection as an excellent local government for three consecutive years.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare conducts an annual Regional Welfare Project Evaluation targeting 17 cities and provinces and 229 local governments nationwide to discover and spread exemplary cases of welfare services and social security delivery systems.
Among these, the "Visiting Health and Welfare Service" evaluation comprehensively assessed a total of 13 indicators, including system establishment, excellent service provision cases, eup/myeon/dong operations, and cooperation with central agencies. As a result of applications from 62 cities, counties, and districts nationwide (28 cities, 14 counties, 20 districts), Goyang Special City was selected as an excellent local government (Excellence Award) and received a commendation from the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
Goyang Special City deployed visiting welfare personnel across 44 neighborhoods and received high evaluations for various efforts to activate visiting health and welfare services, including ▲expansion of visiting health and welfare services ▲establishment of a public-private cooperation loneliness death prevention and management system and realization of preventive welfare through village welfare planning ▲activation of resident participation ▲systematization of discovering welfare blind spots.
Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City stated, "This Excellence Award is the result of continuous efforts to strengthen the Goyang-type welfare delivery system," and added, "We will continue to provide citizen-tailored welfare services and do our best to improve the qualitative level of regional social security."
Meanwhile, Goyang Special City has achieved good results in the welfare field, winning the Encouragement Award at the "2024 Eup/Myeon/Dong Welfare and Safety Service Improvement Best Practice Competition" hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, as well as the Encouragement Award in the "2024 Public-Private Cooperation Excellent City/County Evaluation for Discovering and Supporting Neighbors in Crisis and Revitalizing Local Welfare" hosted by Gyeonggi Province.
