Dangjin City Imposes 6.1 Billion KRW in Second Installment of Automobile Tax

Request to Make Payments Within the Deadline to Avoid Additional Taxes and Other Penalties

Dangjin City, Chungnam has levied the second installment of automobile tax for 2024, totaling 49,678 cases and 6.1 billion KRW.

The automobile tax is a local tax imposed twice a year: the first installment in June and the second in December. The current second installment is charged to the vehicle owners listed in the automobile registration as of December 1, for the period they owned the vehicle from July 1 to December 31.

However, if the full annual automobile tax was prepaid in January, March, June, or September of this year, those vehicles are excluded from this round of taxation.

Considering the inconvenience of many notices being returned due to recipients being absent for work or other outings, and the need for recipients to visit the post office to collect their mail, the city has sent the second installment automobile tax notices via 'optional registered mail.'

The payment period is from the 16th to the 31st of this month. Even without a tax notice, payment can be made at any financial institution nationwide through utility bill payment machines and ATMs using a bankbook, cash, or credit card.

Additionally, payments can be made without visiting a bank through local tax visible ARS credit card payment, internet banking, internet Giro, Wetax, and easy payment apps such as KakaoPay, Naver Pay, and Payco.

A city official stated, "If the payment period is missed, an additional 3% penalty will be charged," and added, "You may face disadvantages such as vehicle seizure or license plate confiscation, so please make your payment within the deadline."
