Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, Awarded Local Food Leading Municipality Encouragement Prize

Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju City announced on the 10th that it received the Encouragement Award in the urban-type leading local government category of this year’s ‘Regional Food Index Evaluation.’

Hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and organized by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, this evaluation quantifies local food plans, the efforts of related local governments, and the extent of their dissemination into an index.

The district has been selected for three consecutive years since 2022 in the urban-type leading local government category. It also demonstrated △ food security for local residents △ exemplary urban-type regional food projects.

Park Byung-gyu, the district mayor, said, “We will provide safe and healthy food to citizens and create stable sales channels for farmers,” adding, “We will continue to strive to strengthen the virtuous cycle system of regional food.”
