Yeongtong Library in Suwon-si, Gyeonggi Province will undergo new construction from January next year until the first half of 2027. Accordingly, the library will operate until 1 PM on December 31 this year.
Yeongtong Library was established in 1999 with an area of 4,136㎡, consisting of one basement floor and three above-ground floors. Suwon City is proceeding with the Yeongtong Library reconstruction project as a public contribution plan following the preliminary negotiation results for the comprehensive medical facility site within the Yeongtong district. The project will be carried out by the project implementer constructing the library and then donating it to Suwon City.
The new Yeongtong Library will have one basement floor and four above-ground floors. The area will increase by 1,065㎡ compared to the existing library, and it will be reborn as ▲ a complex space encompassing the local cultural community ▲ a library embracing a forest that embodies the concept of connecting the city and nature ▲ a modern design library metaphorically reflecting Suwon’s history and tradition ▲ a warm space where tradition and nature harmonize, and an open library where communication and exchange take place.
An official from Suwon City stated, "Yeongtong Library will be newly reborn as a library embracing a forest that connects the city and nature," and added, "We will create it as a complex space encompassing the local cultural community and look forward to welcoming citizens again."
