87 Additional Spaces Secured Through Integrated Expansion of Public Parking Lots, Totaling 231 Spaces, Completion Scheduled for 2027
Expectations for Improved Residential Environment in Low-Rise Housing and Revitalization of Traditional Market Commercial Areas Due to Parking Expansion

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that by 2027, the old SaeSeoul Parking Lot will be expanded and integrated into the Siheung 1-dong public parking lot with 231 spaces.


The district will integrate the SaeSeoul Parking Lot owned by Seoul City and the adjacent surface public parking lot owned by the district into a new expanded parking facility.


The project site is adjacent to Daemyeong Yeoulbitgeori Market, and the surrounding area is densely populated with single-family and multi-family houses, resulting in poor parking conditions.


The district has been promoting this project to resolve parking difficulties in low-rise residential and traditional market areas and to prepare for the increased parking demand around the upcoming Sinansan Line Siheung Sageori Station.


After a feasibility study in 2022, the Siheung 1-dong public parking lot will be expanded into a multi-story structure with one basement level and five above-ground floors, covering a total floor area of 7,418㎡ at 886-13 and 14, Siheung-dong. The number of parking spaces will increase by 87 from the existing 144 to secure a total of 231 spaces.

The first floor will also include facilities for residents’ convenience, such as the Daemyeong Yeoulbitgeori Market Customer Center and a community vitality center.


In November, the district held an architectural design competition for the parking lot expansion and announced the winning design. The winning entry features an accordion-shaped design that wraps around the entire building, intended to bring rhythm and vitality to an area with many aging buildings.


Based on the winning design, the architectural planning will be completed by early December 2025, with construction scheduled for completion by March 2027.


Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “By expanding the Siheung 1-dong public parking lot, we expect to improve the residential environment for residents of low-rise housing, revitalize the Daemyeong Yeoulbitgeori Market commercial area, and enable transfer parking at Siheung Sageori Station in the future.”
