Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 9th that it has newly designated two organizations providing Disabled Activity Support Services to improve accessibility and expand user choice.
The Disabled Activity Support Project is a welfare program designed to assist the independent daily lives of disabled individuals. It includes ‘Activity Assistance Services,’ where support workers assist with physical activities, household chores, and mobility support, and ‘Visiting Bathing Services,’ where care workers visit homes equipped with bathing facilities to provide services.
The newly designated organizations are the ‘Korean Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities Namyangju Branch,’ which provides activity assistance, and the ‘Namyangju Hangyeol Home Care Welfare Center,’ which provides visiting bathing services.
With this additional designation, the number of Disabled Activity Support service providers in the city has expanded to a total of eight, including seven activity assistance providers and one visiting bathing provider.
In particular, due to the suspension of operations by the existing visiting bathing service provider, users had to rely on providers located in neighboring local governments, causing inconvenience. However, this additional designation has significantly reduced such inconvenience and enabled more stable service provision.
Disabled individuals wishing to use the Disabled Activity Support Services can apply or inquire year-round through their local town, township, or neighborhood community service centers.
A Namyangju City official stated, “We hope that this additional designation will contribute to supporting the daily lives and welfare improvement of disabled individuals,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to expand welfare services to meet the diverse needs of disabled persons.”
