Emphasis on Public Officials' Attitude at 'Monthly Policy Sharing' Meeting

Oh Young-hoon, Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, emphasized unwavering work execution and the establishment of public service discipline during the monthly policy sharing meeting held at Tamna Hall of the provincial government on the morning of the 9th, regarding the recent martial law situation. He stated, “The Constitution is the highest value and standard,” and added, “In times of political turmoil, public officials have a legal responsibility to faithfully perform the duties assigned to them according to the Constitution and laws.”
Governor Oh particularly noted, “Matters such as the establishment of basic local governments and consultations with central government ministries will all be handled in accordance with the Constitution and laws,” and urged, “If the situation is resolved early, each department should further strengthen cooperation with central ministries and devote full efforts to solving Jeju’s current issues.”
During the meeting, there was also a review of overseas tourism market trends following the martial law situation.
As a result of monitoring the situation through 11 overseas promotional offices, Jeju Province found that air operations with China are being maintained normally, and there have been no flight cancellations reported in Taiwan and Japan. However, some negative impacts have been reported in certain countries, requiring careful attention.
Governor Oh instructed, “Continuously and closely monitor the trends and establish an immediate reporting and response system in case of any abnormal signs.”
On the same day, Governor Oh focused on the ‘creator economy’ as a new engine for economic growth. He explained, “Jeju is already ahead of any other city in creating a creator economy,” and added, “It will be an effective means to realize digital transformation of urban spaces, find breakthroughs for the livelihood economy, and achieve the 15-minute city.”
In this regard, Governor Oh emphasized the necessity of forming a dedicated task force (TF) in related departments, conducting special lectures by invited experts, and preparing a roadmap for establishing the creator economy system. He also introduced the book Creator Society by Professor Mo Jong-rin of Yonsei University.
The meeting also included a report on the results of the comprehensive agricultural water plan establishment project for Jeju Special Self-Governing Province conducted by the Korea Rural Community Corporation. The project presented four major strategies and 27 tasks, along with the background and process of establishing the 3rd comprehensive agricultural water plan, the current status and issues of agricultural water, future plans, and expected outcomes.
Additionally, current issues were shared, including ▲ thorough execution and improvement of fiscal spending and execution rates in the second half of this year ▲ follow-up measures after achieving 1 billion steps in the walking donation campaign by residents ▲ establishment of a comprehensive plan to support childbirth and childcare in the public service community ▲ follow-up on field meetings to listen to small business owners’ difficulties ▲ and preparation of plans to expand the lifelong education platform of the Residents University.
