On the 9th at 10 a.m., Jeju Special Self-Governing Province appointed trot singer Kang Hye-yeon as the Jeju Island Ambassador at the provincial office.
Kang, who is from Yeon-dong, Jeju City, plans to carry out various promotional activities to enhance the brand value of her hometown Jeju and revitalize the local economy.
Kang debuted in 2012 as a member of the girl group EXID and was active for five years in EXID and BESTie. In 2018, she transitioned to a trot singer by releasing her solo trot album "Wattaya," gaining public love with her solid vocal skills and delicate sensibility.
Her connection with Jeju is also special. She served as a promotional ambassador for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s "4th Island Day in 2023 and 5th Island Day in 2024," and participated in the "2024 Hometown Love Donation Campaign," donating to Jeju Island and exerting a positive influence for her hometown.
Governor Oh Young-hoon said at the appointment ceremony, "Kang Hye-yeon is a talented trot singer who has given deep emotion and new hope to many through beautiful music," adding, "I hope she will take the lead in raising Jeju’s regional brand value and revitalizing the local economy as an ambassador."
Kang will engage in various activities including promoting the Hometown Love Donation Campaign, promoting Jeju’s agricultural, fishery, and livestock products, and boosting tourism in Jeju.
