The Happy Companion Trip, now in its second session in 2024 (adopted as a proposal system in 2018), is a special memorable trip held annually for transportation-disadvantaged individuals and their families in Yangju City, targeting people with disabilities who usually have limited outdoor activities.
In particular, this trip involved 8 families (8 disabled individuals and 8 guardians) from the Yangju Disabled Association (Ensemble Choir) club members. Yangju Urban Corporation provided guidance, vehicles, and manpower support, and conducted healing programs related to culture and science at Jangheung Tourist Site in the city, making it a meaningful event for communication with transportation-disadvantaged individuals.
One participant in the companion trip said, "It is usually difficult to travel due to physical discomfort and mobility challenges, but I had a joyful and happy time with my family," adding, "I am grateful to Yangju Urban Corporation for giving our family such a memorable gift."
President Lee Heung-gyu stated, "We will continue to show interest and support for transportation-disadvantaged individuals and strive to enable more of them to participate in the companion trips."
Yangju Urban Corporation plans to continue promoting the branding of the Happy Companion Trip, which provides travel opportunities to transportation-disadvantaged individuals and their families as part of its social value realization as a public enterprise. It will also expand the target participants and develop various programs to continuously revitalize the initiative.
