Gyeonggi-do Heavy Snow Damage 476.8 Billion Won... Damage Report Deadline Extended to 13th

The damage caused by heavy snowfall in Gyeonggi Province is approaching 500 billion won. Gyeonggi Province expects further damage and, upon request to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, extended the damage report submission deadline to the 13th.


On the 9th, Gyeonggi Province announced that the damage amount in the province due to the record-breaking heavy snowfall on the 27th and 28th of last month has been tentatively estimated to be close to 500 billion won.


As of this day, when aggregating the damage amounts entered by city and county in the National Disaster Management Information System (NDMS), the total damage from the heavy snowfall amounts to 476.8 billion won, including 12 billion won for public facilities and 464.8 billion won for private facilities.


Looking at the damage details, 14,857 farms reported damage, with 2,257 hectares of agricultural and forestry facilities such as vinyl greenhouses and 405 hectares of crops including flowers affected.

There were also 2,515 cases of livestock barns damaged or collapsed, and 671,742 livestock animals died.


Damage cases for small business owners were also counted at 2,118.


Accordingly, Gyeonggi Province requested an extension of the NDMS input deadline on the 4th, and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety extended the original deadline from the 8th to the 13th.


Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province urgently injected a total of 66.75 billion won into the snow damage-affected cities and counties, including 10.35 billion won from the Disaster Management Fund, 30.8 billion won from the Disaster Relief Fund, 5 billion won from contingency funds, 1.6 billion won from special adjustment grants, and 20 billion won from special corporate management funds.


Additionally, on the 6th, Gyeonggi Province requested the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to promptly declare nine areas?Anseong, Pyeongtaek, Icheon, Hwaseong, Yongin, Yeoju, Gwangju, Ansan, Siheung?and one neighborhood, Chopyeong-dong in Osan, as special disaster zones.
